Dr. K.M. Cherian Heart Foundation reinstates the lost glory of Nalanda University at World’s first International Conference on Biological Data Storage Access & Sharing

·       Dr. K. M. Cherian Foundation’s Frontier Mediville and the Maurice Lev Saroja Bharati Museum and International Centre of Excellence in Cardiac Pathology organized the First International Conference on Biological Data Storage Access & Sharing (Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality & Cloud seeding of Cardiac Pathology Specimens for Perpetuality)
·       Dr K M Cherian’s Heart Foundation also inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Golden Zaneka Public Co. Ltd, Myanmar.
Chennai, 17 September 2019: Dr. K. M. Cherian Foundation’s Frontier Mediville and the Maurice Lev Saroja Bharati Museum and International Centre of Excellence in Cardiac Pathology organed the First International Conference on Biological Data Storage Access & Sharing (Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality & Cloud seeding of Cardiac Pathology Specimens for Perpetuality) on September 17th, 2019 at Frontier Mediville, Elavur. This effort has been taken up as an initiative by the Department of Biotechnology (Ministry of Science and technology) on biological data storage, access and sharing policy of India (BDSASP).
By preventing the disintegration of precious rare heart specimens through preservation, India will be a knowledge hub in such a way that the lost glory of Nalanda will be restored.
With this being said, heart specimens which are more than 70 years old, will not last forever. Hence, an earnest attempt was made to utilize latest technology processes for the first time in India and probably in the whole of Asia to impart knowledge for medical posterity worldwide. The events of the day commenced with the registration at 9 a.m., followed by the main programme, which covered a wide range of topics pertaining to this new field.
The event was graced by active participation of well-known scientific institutes and universities who are bestowed with technical expertise in this field such as UT Southwestern, Boston Children Hospital, Sheba International, Tel-Aviv, Israel, as well. An open house was set-up at Frontier Mediville’s premises which showcased various equipment and specimens, as well.
Commenting on the Occasion, Dr KM Cherian, CEO & Chairman, said, “The implementation of Data Storage Access and Sharing is going to play a critical role in the Healthcare sector by facilitating technology. In this era of knowledge exchange through the internet, it is important to make optimum use of cloud-storage and server technology to preserve heart specimens and procedures which can help save many lives in the future. Although Nalanda University was one of the first universities in the world, the knowledge gathered through various studies could not be preserved for Perpetuality. As technology progressed, 3D printing, 3D modeling, augmented reality, and virtual reality along with seeding of biological data on cloud platform have resulted in the transmission and retrieval of data to educate the future, thus preventing another knowledge massacre.”
Dr K M Cherian Heart Foundation also inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Golden Zaneka Public Co. Ltd, Myanmar. This MoU, which has strengthened India & Myanmar’s bilateral relations, has been signed to train and transfer technology in the science of Cardiovascular Medicine to Myanmar healthcare providers both in the private and public sector. The MoU was signed by Professor Kyaw Myint Naing, the Chairman of Golden Zaneka Public Company & Dr KM Cherian.
As a part of the understanding, the two parties will exchange valuable knowledge around various developments & progress in field of cardiothoracic surgery, coronary artery intervention, cardiovascular intensive care, outpatient care, basic cardiac research methodology protocol and clinical & research skill training to name a few. The cardiac facility in a most suitable location will be known as the Dr. K. M. Cherian-GZP Heart Foundation.
“With this MoU being signed, the goodwill between India and Myanmar is strengthening more and more. We are committed to provide the best in cardiac care to our patients and as an endeavor to achieve this, we established the Frontier Mediville - India’s first bio science park for research, training and treatment. We are confident that our cooperation in this MoU will be mutually beneficial and help the progress of medical science.” Dr KM Cherian further added.
