Frontier Mediville and the Maurice Lev and Saroja Bharati Museum and International Centre of Excellence in Cardiac Pathology organizes First International conference on Biological Data Storage, Access and Sharing

Chennai, 11th September 2019: Dr. K. M. Cherian Foundation’s Frontier Mediville and the Maurice Lev Saroja Bharati Museum and International Centre of Excellence in Cardiac Pathology is organizing the First International Conference on Biological Data Storage Access & Sharing (Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality & Cloud seeding of Cardiac Pathology Specimens for Perpetuality) on September 17th, 2019 at Frontier Mediville, Elavur. This effort has been taken up as an initiative by the Department of Biotechnology (Ministry of Science and technology) on biological data storage, access and sharing policy of India (BDSASP).
Imaging modalities like 2D ECHO and MR Imaging have become common today, but 3D Modeling and printing are a rarity in hospitals and health institutes. Although Nalanda University was one of the first universities in the world, the knowledge gathered through various studies could not be preserved for Perpetuality. As technology progressed, 3D printing, 3D modeling, augmented reality, and virtual reality along with seeding of biological data on cloud platform have resulted in the transmission and retrieval of data to educate the future, thus preventing another knowledge massacre. Heart specimens which are more than 70 years old will not last forever. Hence, an earnest attempt is being made to utilize latest technology processes for the first time in India and probably in the whole of Asia to impart knowledge for medical posterity worldwide.
The registration of the event will commence at 9 a.m., and will cover a wide range of topics pertaining to this new field.
The event will seek active participation of well-known scientific institutes and universities who are bestowed with technical expertise in this field such UT Southwestern, Boston Children Hospital, Sheba International, Tel-Aviv, Israel and so on. An open house will be set-up at Frontier Mediville’s premises to showcase various equipment and specimens, as well.
Commenting on the occasion, Dr. K. M.Cherian, C.E.O & Chairman, Frontier Lifeline Hospital said, “Technology has percolated across various sectors, disrupting all industries with the Healthcare Sector being no exception. With this being said, it has become imperative to make optimum use of technology to save lives. The implementation of Data Storage Access and Sharing is going to play a critical role in the Healthcare sector by facilitating technology. As always, we have embraced technology with open arms, and the same has resulted in ground-breaking surgeries done by us.”
Frontier Lifeline promotes a strong academic tradition of imparting knowledge. This is enhanced sessions such as CMEs, workshops, symposiums, guest lectures and various teaching and training programs, which are regular in Frontier Mediville, Frontier Lifeline and its cardiac network of hospitals since its inception.
By preventing the disintegration of precious rare heart specimens through preservation, India will be a knowledge hub in such a way that the lost glory of Nalanda will be restored.
