Clean India mission has become a people's movement: President Ram Nath Kovind at Safaigiri 2019

Speaking at India Today's Safaigiri Awards 2019, President Ram Nath Kovind hailed the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan launched by the Narendra Modi government five years ago. President Ram Nath Kovind hailed the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan launched by the Narendra Modi government five years ago and congratulated everybody involved in fulfilling the dream of a clean India.
President Kovind said that over the last five years, the campaign for a clean India became a people's movement. Noting that he was addressing the Safaigiri Awards 2019 on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, President Kovind said, "Gandhi once said if you do not pick up the broom and the bucket, you will not get a clean city. Depending on others for cleanliness betrays a lack of imagination and understanding."
The President said that everybody from the prime minister to a sarpanch played a role in making the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan successful.
President Kovind also congratulated the winners of the Safaigiri Awards 2019 and especially spoke about Sachin Tendulkar, who received the Most Effective Swachhata Ambassador award. "When people like Sachin Tendulkar join a movement like this, it has a deep impact on youngsters," the President said. "I believe he may not remember all the awards he has received, but I feel he will remember this award forever."
